On January 31, 2025, the MULTIR project proudly took part in the 1st Annual Meeting of the Understanding Tumour-Host Interactions Cluster in Barcelona. Hosted by the THRIVE project and Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS), the event brought together representatives from all cluster projects, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.
MULTIR was represented in person by our Coordinator, Prof. Lise Boussemart, and Project Manager, Dr. Thomas Roret, who engaged in thought-provoking discussions throughout the event. Dr. Kalliopi Thanopoulou (Exelixis Research Management & Communication) joined remotely to present the cluster’s joint communication and dissemination activities, highlighting efforts to effectively share research findings across projects.
The meeting featured inspiring keynote talks, dynamic panel discussions, and interactive networking sessions, driving forward key conversations on:
Data Management and Sharing – Enhancing collaboration and transparency in research data.
Communication and Dissemination – Strategies to amplify the cluster’s impact and outreach.
Research and Innovation – Exploring cutting-edge approaches in tumour-host interaction studies.
Addressing Inequalities – Ensuring equitable access to research advancements.
Citizen and Patient Engagement – Empowering patients and the public in shaping research priorities.
A key highlight of the meeting was the valuable input from the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA), which reinforced the importance of cross-project synergies, data sharing, and patient engagement. Their insights provided crucial guidance on maximizing the cluster’s impact and fostering meaningful collaboration.
The MULTIR team is energized by the momentum gained during this meeting and looks forward to the next steps in this exciting collaboration.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue driving innovation in cancer research!
