On 2–3 October 2025, the MULTIR consortium held its 2nd Annual Meeting in Hannover, Germany. The event was kindly hosted by project partner MOS and ran in a hybrid format, with participants joining both on site and online from across Europe.

A warm welcome in Hannover

The meeting opened with a welcome from Prof. Lise Boussemart (INSERM–NUH), who thanked MOS for their hospitality and smooth organisation. She introduced the agenda for the two days, which combined project-wide updates, focused discussions and time for informal exchanges among partners.

The atmosphere throughout was collaborative and forward-looking, with clinicians, researchers, data and AI experts, ethicists and stakeholder representatives contributing their perspectives.

Two days of joint reflection and planning

Over the course of the meeting, partners reviewed overall progress since the previous year and reflected on how the project is organised and managed. The consortium confirmed that internal structures and ways of working are functioning well and reaffirmed a shared commitment to transparency, collaboration, and inclusive, family-friendly working practices.

A key part of the discussions focused on ethics, data protection and data governance. Partners reviewed how MULTIR continues to align with relevant European and national requirements and discussed the remaining steps needed to complete the framework that will allow data to be shared and used responsibly within the project.

The meeting also looked ahead to the next phase of work. Partners discussed how different types of information will be brought together, how analytical work will be organised, and how future validation activities will be prioritised so that efforts focus on the most relevant questions. The detailed scientific content of these discussions remains internal to the consortium, but the overall direction is clear: to make coordinated, efficient progress towards MULTIR’s objectives.

Another important theme was engagement with patients and other stakeholders. Early input from European patient organisations shows interest in AI-supported tools in oncology, alongside strong expectations around trust, transparency, privacy and fairness. Building on this, partners plan further joint activities with patient groups and will continue to develop communication and educational materials that support understanding and dialogue.

The consortium also reviewed ongoing communication and dissemination efforts, including use of the project website, social media and events, and its collaboration with related European initiatives. These activities aim to ensure that MULTIR’s work is visible and well connected within the wider research and policy landscape.

Public symposium in parallel

In parallel with the internal meeting, a public symposium was organised to introduce MULTIR to a broader audience and present selected aspects of the project in an accessible way. Participants from several countries joined online, and the feedback from this event will help shape future outreach and stakeholder engagement.

Closing and next steps

The meeting closed with a shared sense of progress and a clear roadmap for the coming period. Partners agreed that the project is moving forward steadily and that collaboration across the consortium remains strong.
